Truckee River Fund Comments and Corrections: Much misinformation was surrounded this issue. No funds have been dispersed to date. The TMWA Board of Directors approved the formation of this fund in 2004. The funds are to be used only to protect and enhance water quality and water resources of the Truckee River. However, using this specific mechanism was intended to leverage those funds in order to get matching donations from other agencies. It was to be used for wide public purposes of protecting the Truckee Meadows' prime water source and for good stewardship of the river system. It was never intended to be a charity. Protecting our water supply is vital for TMWA customers.
