About TMWA

Lauren Kunin

Administrative Technician

Lauren is officially an Administrative Technician for TMWA, but if you asked her what she did on a daily basis, she'd tell you her job description is the "jack of all trades".

"I'm not a desk person," she said of her job.  "I enjoy being out and about and going everywhere."  Lauren's post is typically in the mail room, which is where she spends the better part of each morning.  She starts off each day with a trip to the post office and then back to the corporate office to distribute the mail.

Another big part of her job is running around Reno and Sparks printing maps, picking things up, dropping things off and doing anything else that needs to be done.  She normally spends her afternoons helping Dennis Romeo, TMWA's backflow administrator, enter tests into the database.

Lauren said she began her work at TMWA because the environment really appealed to her, and it sounds like it still does.

"I love this atmosphere.  Everyone is always so friendly and helpful," she said of her co-workers.  Her uncle, who works for Sierra Pacific Power Company, influenced her interest in the utility business.

Until September 2007, she worked only during the summer months in the conservation department.  She was a Water Watcher, driving around in the famous "bubble cars," and she was also a scheduler, dispatching Water Watchers out to calls from the hotline.  She is now a full-time TMWA employee, gaining experience in many different areas.

Lauren was born and raised in Reno.  Family is very important to her and with most of her family in Reno, she has no plans of leaving her hometown anytime soon.  With eight uncles, two brothers, one sister, two young nieces and a third on the way, no one can blame her.

While her family is important, the one member who has influenced her most is her mother, who currently works in urgent care at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center.

"Like my work at TMWA, she's been a jack of all trades for Saint Mary's for 22 years," Lauren said about her mother and the strong influence she has been.

She and her husband recently celebrated their one-year anniversary and she considers herself a bit of a homebody, enjoying her time with her husband and nieces.
